Thank
you to everyone who attended our March General Membership meeting. If Margaret
Mitchel had attended, she would have won the $500 prize. We also collected
over $400 during the raffle to benefit the MSAR Scholarship. Lana Costeines won
FREE admission for her and a guest to our Summer Happy Hour, just by making a
donation to RPAC.
Don Klepper-Smith
gave an interesting and thought-provoking presentation on the current and future
status of the Connecticut economy. His key points were:
2008 will be the most challenging economic environment due to a recession that
began in late 2007. However, due to current politics, don't look for an announcement
of that recession anytime soon.
The Connecticut economy will continue to outperform the national economy in 2008.
The status of the economy boils down to one word: CONFIDENCE: consumer, investor
and business confidence will be the key. As Mr. Klepper-Smith's grandmother used
to say, "When the going gets tough, the tough goes shopping."
